Our Commitment to the Environment

Rocky Mountain Rare Plants is strongly committed to the preservation of rare and endangered plant species. At no time will we knowingly collect seed of endangered plants or accept such seed collected by others. We strongly support seed collection practices which do not impact wild plant colonies. Wild seed is collected with vision of protecting and dispersing a valuable resource for future generations to come.

The alpine seed we offer is well behaved. Alpine plants grow in narrow, unique ecosystems. Higher temperatures, humidity, and many other conditions restrict where alpines can grow. The choice seed offered in this catalog is not prone to rampant growth. If anything, the opposite is true.

Profit-driven organizations and uninformed agencies rationalize unnecessary eradication of native species. The trivial use of the term "weed" in databases causes restriction in the movement of seed. As stewards of the land, we at Rocky Mountain Rare Plants encourage the appreciation of our native flora through horticulture. We want to raise awareness to preserve the fragile ecosystems of these special endemics.

Rocky Mountain Rare Plants supports the quiet recreation of the mountains and wild regions of the world.
